NORTH CANTON -- A subcontractor who worked with the North Canton Playhouse has been arrested on a number of charges, according to police.
Brenton T. Cochran, 26, of Wadsworth faces charges of telecommunications fraud, theft, misuse of credit cards and forgery.
It is alleged that while working for the Playhouse, he used its Staples Advantage account to make personal transactions totaling more than $40,000.
According to police, Staples' collections department contacted the Playhouse after the account went unpaid. The executive director of the Playhouse contacted police earlier this month when he suspected the theft.
Cochran had worked for the Playhouse for nine years and also worked at the Staples in Coventry, according to police.
He turned himself in at Canton Municipal Court Thursday, and his bond was set at $25,000.
