The Gingerbread House Family Workshop

What: Just in time for the Annual Gingerbread Competition, the chefs of BON APPETIT help families create edible masterpieces with sweet smelling gingerbread and a delicious assortment of candies and other treats.

Where: Cleveland Botanical Gardens, 11030 East Boulevard in Cleveland

When: Saturday Nov. 5 from 2-3:30 p.m.

Register to enter your creation in the Gingerbread Competition and return it for display during this year's Glow display, or take it home and enjoy for the season! All materials provided (adult and child will share one house, but families are encouraged to bring personal edibles to add to their creation and a box for transport home.) Recommended for children ages 6-12.

Book Sale and Pancake Breakfast

What: Grab some breakfast and help us clean out our closets at our annual book sale and pancake breakfast. Fill up on pancakes and sausage as you browse books and other aviation products. New this year, we are bringing in authors, mostly local, to hold a book signing. Confirmed authors include Tom Matowitz, Ann Otto, and Jef Benedetti, with more to come.

Where: International Women's Air and Space Museum at Burke Lakefront Airport, 1501 N. Marginal Rd. Room 165 in Cleveland

When: Saturday Nov. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Suggested donation of $5 for breakfast.)

Cleveland Metroparks History and Hike

What: Worden's History & Hike

Where: Cleveland Metroparks Hinckley reservation

When: Saturday, November 5 from 10 - 11 a.m.

Worden’s Ledges offers a unique look at part of the history of Hinckley Township. Join seasonal Naturalist Beth Robb as we take a step back in time. We will start at Worden Heritage Homesite and then take a hike to the ledges.

The free hike is considered moderate difficulty of about 1 mile.

What: Living History: John Muir

Where: The West Woods Nature Center at 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87) in Russell & Newbury Twps.

When: Sunday, November 6, 1-2 p.m.

Travel back in time to meet the famous naturalist John Muir as he recalls some of his more memorable "hands-on" experiences with Nature! Wheelchair/stroller accessible.

What: The Sky Tonight Planetarium Show

Where: Observatory Park, Robert McCullough Science Center

When: Sunday, November 6, 2-3 p.m.

Join us for a planetarium presentation about what to watch for in the night sky each week, and view the sun using our safe, solar-viewing equipment. Wheelchair/stroller accessible.

What: Night Sky Viewing

Where: Observatory Park, Robert McCullough Science Center

When: Saturday, November 5, 7-11 p.m.

Take in the wonders of the night sky using park telescopes! If the weather won't allow night sky viewing, we'll take in the sights in our planetarium instead. Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible.
