ORRVILLE -- A local teacher faces a charge of sexual battery after police began investigating allegations that she was having innapropriate sexual conduct with students.
Thirty-four year-old Erin Speicher, who lives in Orrville, faces a single felony charge after her arrest. She was arraigned Monday in Wayne County Municipal Court in Wooster.
Speicher resigned her position Friday as a 9th grade English teacher at Rittman High School in Medina County, according to Superintendent Jon Ritchie. Speicher was also the Junior Class Advisor.
Ritchie said the allegations came to light last week and that police were immediately called to investigate. Ritchie was unable to comment further about the details of the allegations .
Rittman High School has 425 students so every student knew Speicher, Ritchie said.
Orrville police say there were "multiple alleged incidents" and that Rittman Police, Rittman Schools, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and the Wayne County Childrens Services are all taking part in the investigation.
Speicher, who is married, is being held on $75,000 bond and has a preliminary hearing set for Feb. 18.
