BEACHWOOD -- A mother's and daughter's dreams will come true on June 14.

"I'm so proud of you really I am, " says Thomonica McBride. Thomonica and her daughter Shalome Ware will both graduate from the University of Phoenix together.

But it's been a long road. When Shalome was growing up, teachers and principals told her mom that Shalome might not graduate from high school...let alone go to college.

"She kept pushing me, saying you can do this do this. I decided to prove them wrong and I am proving them wrong," says Shalome.

Shalome did graduate from high school, and then eventually enrolled at the University of Phoenix -- where her mom was a student too.

They both have jobs at the school as well -- and determined to graduate together they doubled up on their on-line courses and motivated each other.

"I have a 4.0 GPA and getting ready to graduate with my mother," says Shalome.

They will be the first in their family to graduate from college. Shalome will have an Associate's degree and will go back to the University of Phoenix for her Bachelor's degreee in business.

Thomonica is getting her Bachelor's degree and will then pursue a Master's in divinity. "We motivated each other," says Thomonica.
