EAST CLEVELAND -- The votes have been cast in the Democratic mayoral primary between incumbent Mayor Eric Brewer and his challenger, City Council President Gary Norton, and with unofficial results, Norton has emerged a winner.
With all 18 of 18 precincts counted by 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Norton wins decisively with 2,015 votes to Brewer's 1,147, unofficially a nearly 2 to 1 margin.
The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections says Norton will be unopposed in the Nov. 3 election so Norton can be assumed to be the mayor-elect.
