CLEVELAND -- People were out and about in the east side neighborhood where Anthony Sowell lived, but there were no trick-or-treaters Halloween night.  Parents were taking their children to other neighborhoods after six bodies were found in and around Sowell's house this weekend.

Sowell was arrested near his home Saturday after a resident saw him on the street and alerted police.  He surrendered without incident.

In his neighborhood, Imperial Avenue off East 123rd Street, the owner of the corner grocery says Sowell came into the store twice a day but said little.

Two women who live just one house down from Sowell had no idea he was a convicted rapist.

Starlena Hood took her young children and stayed with friends until Sowell was apprehended.

"I'm glad  they finally caught him.  Now I can feel safe in my home," she said.

Eighteen-year-old Melissa Taub, Hood's best friend, lives with her and saw Sowell on the street every day.

"He was nice, but he gave me the creeps," Taub said.

She said Sowell once tried to lure her into his house, but she didn't go.

"He scared me, and I didn't trust him.  Some angel must have been watching over me because If I'd have gone into that house, one of those bodies could have been me, one of those graves could have been mine."
