VERMILION -- The bizarre circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a Vermilion businessman just got stranger.
The home of murder victim Jeremy Simko has been burglarized two times since his death last week.
Sources close to the case say $2,000 was stolen from an office desk on Saturday.
The second break-in occurred Sunday. There was forced entry into the home and tampering with a locked safe inside the home.
"It tells me we have a very complex case. We were involved in it and the next day, we probably had more questions than answers the second day. This just puts a whole new wrinkle to it. It's a lot more time-consuming," Vermilion Police Chief Robert Kish said.
Police say Simko was shot in the head and found by his wife, Julene, last Wednesday around 6 a.m.
Police say they don't yet know whether the burglaries are related to Simko's murder.
