Akron: Bridgestone Invitational to benefit 100 local charities

AKRON -- Tickets Fore Charity allows golf buffs to witness a great event while helping local charities.

Golf's greatest players are expected to compete at the Firestone Country Club in Akron next week.

If you buy your ticket online at the Tickets Fore Charity website, 100% of the proceeds will go to a charity.

There are more than 100 charities to choose from. You must enter a promotional code, which can be found on the website.

During these tough economic times, many charities like United Way, say the need for help is up but donations are down.

"Even after the golfers are gone, that money is still in the community helping out with these programs and that is something that is great," says Don Paggott, Bridgestone Invitational Executive Director.

The cost of a day ticket is $35.

The Bridgestone Invitational is Aug. 3-8.
