BAY VILLAGE -- Police say that an Elyria man now faces a felony OVI charge because he already has five previous OVI convictions.
Just before 9:30 p.m. Feb. 3, an officer found a vehicle stuck in the front yard of a Nantucket Row house.
The officer saw a man sitting in the vehicle and a woman trying to dig the car out.
According to the man, he told police he was leaving his girlfriend's home and somehow wound up in the front yard.
Police said it appeared as though he mistook the sidewalk for the roadway.
The officer suspected that the man had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered and, as a result, Kevin Inman, 53, of Elyria, was arrested for OVI.
Police say that, with five prior convictions for OVI, this increased the charge to a felony OVI.
Police say that Inman will face charges in Rocky River Municipal Court and in the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
