After more than an hour and a half of investigation, officials gave the all-clear and the bomb squad packed up a beer keg.
Police and emergency crews responded to the corner of 12th Street and Central Parkway just after 8 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious object.
The metal cylinder with three red stripes around it was sitting on the sidewalk outside the Freestore Foodbank.
"There's just no reason for it to be there," police said. Medics stood by at the scene.
The Cincinnati Fire Department bomb squad deployed two robots to approach the cylinder, and determined it was a beer keg, Lt. Steve Saunders said.
Central Parkway was blocked from Ezzard Charles Drive and Plum Street Downtown for more than hour. 12th Street was also blocked between Elm Street and Central Parkway.
