Fire destroys pizza shop in Doylestown

DOYLESTOWN -- Chippewa Township Fire Chief Ron Browning tells WKYC that, just after midnight Monday, the fire department responded to a call of a fire at a pizza shop located at 73 N. Portage Street.

When they arrived, six out of the eight back windows had fire coming out of them and they worked quickly along with the assistance they had to put out the fire.

They were aided by the Marshallville, Rittman, Orville, Wadsworth, Copley, Barberton, Norton, and Sterling fire departments.

Browning says they also had the Wayne County fire investigation team, as well as state fire marshal on the scene.

Jake's Pizza was completely destroyed and the Dannemiller Electric building next door suffered smoke damage structurally, as well as damage inside of the building.

The fire was under control within an hour and a half. The cause is still under investigation.
