This is Ohio's most popular Halloween candy in 2017

In the annual trick-or-treating haul, there always seems to be that one Halloween candy that appears more often than others.

Some years, it's M&Ms. Others, it's Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

This year, in Ohio, it'll be Blow Pops.

At least, that's according to data from CandyStore.com, which compiled a list of the top Halloween candy by state based on 10 years of sales data to all 50 states.

The report said those in the Buckeye State this year will consume nearly 150,000 pounds of the artificially fruit-flavored, gum-filled lollipops around Halloween time.

That wasn't the case last year, however: M&M's, which used to be Ohio's go-to Halloween candy, dropped to second place this year with just over 146,700 pounds consumed, the report said.

Also replacing its predecessor this year was Starburst, which edged out the popular Snickers candy bar as Ohio's third-favorite treat with 105,700 pounds consumed.

While Ohio's lineup changed entirely from last year, the report said Kentucky has remained faithful for two years to its favorite candy, Tootsie Pops, of which our southern neighbors will consume 68,000 pounds this year.

As for the rest of Ohio's neighbors, Indiana will be heating up with Hot Tamales, Michigan will be keeping it classic with candy corn, Pennsylvania will snub Hershey with Mars (M&M's topped its list), and West Virginia will join Ohio in eating up Blow Pops.
