Police: Man allegedly tried to lure girl, 12

CLEVELAND - Police are looking for a man wearing a black hoodie driving a black vehicle who allegedly tried to lure a girl, 12, into his vehicle about 4 p.m. Tuesday near W. 44th Street near Hyde Avenue.

Police say they were called to Lincoln Preparatory School where they met with the victim and her mother.  The girl told police she was riding her bicycle home on Hyde Avenue and as she was crossing near W. 44th Street, a black vehicle, possibly a Jeep Liberty with dark-tinted windows and a missing rear mounted spare tire approached her.

She said the driver honked his horn and she stopped and the man said “get in.”

She told police she immediately rode off on her bicycle back to the school.

Police say she told them the vehicle was last seen southbound on West 44th Street.

Police had multiple zone cars tour the area in an attempt to locate the driver/vehicle but were unable to do so. At this time, police say there is no known video of the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Second District Detective Bureau at 216-623-5218.
