2 killed in Ravenna Township shooting identified, suspect remains at large

Pregnant woman dies, suspect at large

RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, OHIO - Police say two people are dead and a suspect remains at large following a shooting on Henderson Road in Ravenna Township on Wednesday.

The Portage County Coroner's Office identified both victims. They are 33-year-old Lashaun Sanders of Ravenna and 32-year-old Sara Marsh of Kent. Marsh, who was 6-10 weeks pregnant, died at the hospital at 8:28 p.m.

Authorities say her baby did not survive.

"He's a loving person. Nobody had a problem with him. If anybody ever needed anything he was there for us. I'm just shocked that this even happened for real," Brittainy Fortson said, of Sanders, her cousin. She lives in the house where the shooting happened.

Ravenna police say emergency responders were called to a shooting around 2:23 p.m. Reports indicated an armed suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect has been identified as David Darnell Calhoun, Jr.  Calhoun is 25-years-old and is currently on parole. He remains on the loose, and authorities warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anybody with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Portage County Sheriff's Office at 330-296-5100 x 0.

A warrant has been obtained for Calhoun's arrest on the charge of aggravated murder.

Because of the proximity to Ravenna High School, the schools were placed on lockdown. Some students had already left for home following the end of the school day.

The lockdown was lifted at 3 p.m. once authorities cleared the area and students were escorted by law enforcement to buses. Police say all students and school staff are safe.

Police urge residents to remain inside and lock their doors.
