Region's Medical Centers prepare for RNC visitors

Local hospitals prepare for RNC visitors

NORTHEAST OHIO - It's no secret that Cleveland is a competitive medical market, except where public health is concerned.

All of the medical systems are working together to make sure the Republican National Convention is covered health wise.

They split up resources. Cleveland Clinic medical staff will handle inside Progressive Field and Quicken Loans arena, where the Republican National Convention takes place.

MetroHealth Medical Center will set up medical centers outside those buildings within the security zone.

UH Case Medical Center staff will manage the Global Center for Health Innovation and the Huntington Convention Center.

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center is the closest hospital to the zone and would be expected to handle walk in emergencies.

"We plan for the worst and hope for the best and we've been planning for months. We have federal and state support, and hospitals in Akron are ready to lend a hand if needed," UH Case Medical Center Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Michael Anderson said.
