Doctor fatally shot at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon; shooter dead

Shooting at Affinity in Massilon

MASSILLON - Massillon police have confirmed that two people are dead after a shooting occurred in the parking lot at Affinity Medical Center Monday afternoon.

Police say one of the victims is Dr. George Seese, who was walking to his car when he sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He later died inside the hospital. Dr. Seese was a cardiologist from the Massillon area.

The shooter, identified as Michael Wood, turned the gun on himself and shot himself dead after shooting Dr. Seese.

Police say that the Wood and Seese shared a mutual love interest. Officers believe it is an isolated incident and there was no threat to any other workers or patients inside the hospital.

The Stark County Coroner was called to the scene and the hospital was placed on lockdown.

All Massillon area schools were also on lockdown. That lockdown was lifted just before 3 p.m.
