Sheriff: Stark County crash injures 3; alcohol/drugs possible factors

LEXINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- The Stark County Sheriff's Office says the driver and one passenger were injured and a second passenger was taken by LifeFlight to Akron Children's Hospital following an early morning crash.

Deputies say the crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Vine Street and Julie Avenue. Deputies say the initial investigation shows that the driver, Michael Curtis Shillig, 19, drove left of center, lost control and the car went airborne, flipping several times.

There were two passengers -- Dylan Mathew Maloney, 18, and a 16-year-old.

Shillig and Maloney were taken to Aultman Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 16-year-old was taken by LifeFlight to Akron Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies say that charges against Shillig are pending as alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash.
