Appelbaum is the Cleveland attorney representing the county in its partnership with Chicago-based MMPI Inc. MMPI will develop both the Medical Mart and the convention center.

The plan that commissioners saw this morning is to be reviewed Friday by the Cleveland Design Review Committee, Landmarks Commission and City Planning Commission. Friday's meeting is open to the public.

Seattle-based LMN Architects have designed the Medical Mart/Convention Center in keeping with the existing open space at the Malls. They proposed a sloping roof covered with grass atop a 20-foot-high wall of glass that would constitute the new convention center entrance on Lakeside Avenue.

Mall B would have a slope from about Rockwell Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, rising from south to north, to a 27-foot high platform where the public could view Lake Erie unobstructed.
