The funeral mass for Major Michael S. Evarts, 41, was held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Concord Township.

Following the mass, there was a funeral procession to the Mentor Cemetery.

Major Evarts died on January 17 in a non-combat related incident in Iraq.

He was assigned to the 256th Combat Support Hospital from Twinsburg, Ohio.
