Cinema Wasteland brings screams to Strongsville

STRONGSVILLE -- Twice a year the bloody carpet is rolled out as film fans from all over the country gather for Cinema Wasteland's Drive-In Movie & Memorabilia Expo -- a celebration of horror, grindhouse and B movies.

The creepy convention returns this weekend as the Holiday Inn at 15471 Royalton Rd. becomes a crypt for the macabre as fans get the chance to mingle with some of their favorite movie stars.

Some of the celebrity guests include:

  • John Saxon - "A Nightmare on Elm Street"
  • P.J. Soles - "Halloween"
  • Jim Kelly - "Enter the Dragon"
  • Barbara Bouchet - "Casino Royale"
  • Multiple people who portrayed zombies in the 1968 classic "Night of the Living Dead."
  • Son of Ghoul

In addition, there are multiple movie screenings throughout the weekend and gobs of gory memorabilia to snatch up.

This marks the 21st Cinema Wasteland, which takes place at the following hours:

Friday, March 30.

  • Dealer's room open from 5 - 10 p.m.
  • VIP passholders will be admitted at 4:30 p.m.
  • Midnight movies will run on Friday Night.

Saturday, March 31:

  • Dealer's room open from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Midnight movies will run on Saturday Night.

Sunday, April 1:

  • Dealer's room open from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Prices are $45 for three-day VIP passes; $20 for single-day tickets on Friday and Saturday; $15 on Sunday.

Parking is available for free at the hotel.

Looking ahead, dates for upcoming Cinema Wasteland events have already been slated for October 5-7, 2012; April 5-7, 2013; and October 4-6, 2013.
