1961: Modell buys the Browns for $4 million (using only $250,000) of his own money.
Jan. 9, 1963: Modell fires legendary coach Paul Brown and hires Blanton Collier.

1973: Modell takes control of Cleveland Municipal Stadium from the city.
Nov. 6, 1995: After owning the Cleveland Browns for more than 30 years, Art Modell announces plan to move team to Baltimore for 1996 season. The team will be re-named the Ravens. Modell says he "had no choice."
Dec. 17, 1995: Browns play last game at Municipal Stadium. Fans rip out seats following game.
Sept. 8, 1998: Expansion franchise awarded to Cleveland. Al Lerner announced as new owner. Team retains name of Browns.
Jan 28, 2001: Ravens win Super Bowl XXXV defeating the New York Giants 34-7.
2003: Modell sells Ravens to minority owner .
2011: Pat Modell passes away at the age of 80.
Sept. 6, 2012: Art Modell dies at the age of 87 in Baltimore.
