Early voting lines long around Northeast Ohio

Early voting means long lines in Summit County

AKRON - When you plan on heading out to vote early, chances are you’re doing it to avoid the long lines.

“The lines out here, I would imagine on Tuesday, are going to be terrible,” said Justin McMann of Stow.

Hundreds of people were out voting at the Summit County Board of Elections Office today, but most were in for a surprise.

The average wait time early this afternoon was between 30 minutes to an hour. At times, the office was completely packed to where it was nearly impossible for voters to find a parking spot. A longer wait than most expected, but then again it has been a pretty unique election season that has attracted voters who don’t want anything in their way of casting a ballot.

One person even avoided WKYC’s cameras because they were on the clock at work, but wanted to make it out before Election Day. But even with the long lines, voters say it was an easy process and makes Election Day a little easier to get through.

“I just wanted to get it done. Get it out the way, therefore, I can sit back on Tuesday and wait for the results,” said Sabreen of Akron.

Voters still have a chance to vote early this weekend. Board of Elections offices will be open this weekend and Monday for those who still want to cast their ballots before Tuesday.

Saturday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Sunday:  1 p.m. -  5 p.m.

Monday: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
