Man sentenced to 5 years in prison for injuring infant

AKRON - A Cuyahoga Falls man was sentenced Wednesday for violently shaking his girlfriend’s baby,

The shaking was so severe that the infant suffered temporary paralysis.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Paul Gallagher sentenced William Jobe, 29, to five years in prison.

Jobe was sentenced following an incident that took place August 19, 2015.

According to law enforcement officials, authorities responded to a 911 call regarding an 8-month-old who was having trouble breathing.

Jobe, the live-in boyfriend of the baby’s mother, was home alone with the baby at the time and later admitted to shaking the infant during a police interview.  

Jobe plead guilty to child endangerment, which is a felony of the second degree, on August 4.
