It's the first weekend in December and you may not want to spend the entire time shopping. Check out where you can go to have some fun and most that are completely free! This may be the perfect weekend to check out those lighting displays.
'GE in the CLE' at Nela Park
What: More than 500,000 LED lights are in the Nela Park display this year. This year's theme is "GE in the CLE." (Although you can no longer drive through the campus, you can view the display along the street either from your car or by walking.) Nela Park is the world's first industrial park and designated a National Historic site in 1975.
GE Lighting has been designing and decorating the National Christmas tree in Washington for 54 consecutive years, according to GE. This year's display has a replica of the National Tree and Cleveland landmarks including: Cleveland Metroparks, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Playhouse Square and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

23rd Annual Holiday CircleFest in University Circle
What: You can enjoy more than a dozen of the University Circle museums, galleries gardens and more for FREE on Sunday Dec. 4. There are also free horse-drawn carriage rides, ice-carving demonstrations and live music around the circle. Some of Cleveland's favorite food trucks will be there to keep you from getting hungry!

Wild Lights at the Akron Zoo
What: It's BACK! After a hiatus of 16 years, almost the entire Akron Zoo will be lit up with lighted animal displays and holiday displays. Check out the Zoo's carousel, visit with Santa Claus and there's even a s'mores station!

Holiday Happenings Public Square in downtown Cleveland
What: Meet Me in the Square! Now that the holiday season is in full swing, check out the daily events at Cleveland's Public Square. There are free concerts and carolers as well as holiday-themed, free activities

Deck the Hall at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens
What: Deck the hall has the entire Stan Hywet estate decorated inside and outside with 850,000 lights. This year the Manor House is decorated for "A Storybook Christmas." There's an animated outdoor light show and a Gingerbread Land. There's a nightly tree lighting at 5: 30 p.m.

Old-Fashioned Christmas display on Chardon Square
What: The Chardon Square in downtown Chardon in Geauga County will be lit for an old-fashioned Christmas. There will be decorated trees, an animated Toyland display and a Nativity scene.
Where: Chardon Square in Geauga County on Short Court Street
When: Opened Dec. 1 with the Lighting on the Square at 7 p.m. and there will be free cider and gingersnaps (On Dec. 10, there will be free horse-drawn carriage rides around the square from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., carolers and Santa Claus will be in the new Heritage House from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for pictures.)
Christmas Lights in downtown Willoughby in Lake County
What: In Willoughby's Wes Point Park, you can drive around the outside and see most of the displays or park and walk. There's a spaghetti dinner 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 to benefit the Kiwanis. Visit Santa Claus in his house in Wes Point Park. December 2 – December 23 (Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays & Sundays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food item when visiting Santa. ALL donations collected go directly to the Willoughby Food Pantry

What: The area's largest drive-through lighting display
When: Now through Dec. 25 (6 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and Sundays, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays)
