U.S. Marshals arrest man in post-World Series robbery

CLEVELAND - Early Tuesday, the U.S. Marshal’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Anthony Johnson, 24.

Johnson was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service and Cleveland Police for a robbery that happened after Game 6 of the World Series here.

U.S. Marshals said that it is alleged that Johnson and one other suspect followed their victim after the game ended to an area where they knocked him unconscious and robbed him. The marshals said the victim had traveled from Florida to watch the Indians play in the World Series.

The victim awoke at MetroHealth Medical Center.

Police were able to use surveillance video to identify Johnson and charge him with the crime, according to the U.S. Marshals news release.

The U.S. Marshals found Johnson at an associate’s apartment located on the 1500 block of West Royalton Road in Broadview Heights, according to the release, and was taken to the Cleveland City Jail.
