VERMILION, Ohio -- Police here have identified the woman who was caught on a YouTube video throwing her dog into Lake Erie.
Police tell WKYC that the investigation into exactly what happened will continue. A Vermilion Police dispatcher tells WKYC that the dog is OK.
Vermilion Police posted pictures of the woman on their Facebook page Wednesday morning and she was identified. The Facebook post said she had been seen at Tiki Beach about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.
A passerby caught the incident on his cell phone and uploaded it to YouTube Tuesday night. He notes on the YouTube video that the lake temperature is 59 degrees.
He is identified on the YouTube video post as Elijah Boggs and approaches the woman and asks her what she is doing. On the video, she tells him she is teaching her dog to swim. He tells her "I'm calling the cops."
