AKRON, OHIO - A woman was rushed to the hospital Wednesday evening after police say her boyfriend shot her shortly after 7:30 p.m. in front of her three children, ages 4, 3 and a newborn.
It happened at a home in the 800 block of Inman Street.
According to Akron police, the victim, Bianca Haskell, 26, was found with multiple gunshot wounds to her back, legs and hand. Police say she was shot following an argument with her boyfriend, Jamarian J. Williams, 25, of Akron.
Haskell was taken to Akron City Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say Williams drove off in a 2005, white Dodge Caravan before officers arrived.
The children were placed into the custody of the Summit County Children Services.
Police spotted the Dodge Caravan on Crestview Avenue and Orrin Street. Police tried to stop it but police say Williams refused to pull over and led officers on a brief chase.
While driving on Copley Road, Williams threw a black handgun out of the passenger window on Copley Road near Crestview Avenue. Williams continued until he finally stopped in the 900 block of Roslyn Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident.
Officers recovered the gun that was thrown from the vehicle. he gun was reported stolen in 2011.
Jamarian J. Williams was charged with felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, weapons under disability, domestic violence, endangering children, tampering with evidence, receiving stolen property and failure to comply with police orders.
He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
