BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Authorities say a police SWAT team is searching a building on the grounds of a Buffalo hospital for a person suspected of fatally shooting a 33-year-old woman.
Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda says Wednesday morning's shooting that prompted a lockdown of Erie County Medical Center wasn't a random act.
A four-hour lockdown of the 65-acre medical center campus was lifted around noon Wednesday for all buildings except the one where the shooting happened around 8 a.m.
Authorities say the woman was shot several times inside the building adjacent to the hospital's main building. They haven't released her name.
