AMHERST TOWNSHIP -- The TeleTech Call Center plans to hire around 300 customer service representatives over the next two months.

The company will hold job recruiting events on April 8, 15, 22 and 29 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Spitzer Conference Center of Lorain County Community College, but you must register online first.

People must register online for the April recruiting events by the day before they take place, by visiting www.hirepoint.com. Applicants will get a call to confirm their interest and have a short interview over the phone.

"In the service industry, business is growing despite the economic downturn," a TeleTech spokesperson said.

About 900 full-time employees already work at TeleTech. The Amherst Township center is open from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. seven days a week, so applicants need to be flexible about work hours.

New employees start at $9 per hour. They are given seven weeks of training, including four weeks of classroom time and three weeks on the phones with someone monitoring their calls. Pay increases 25 cents per hour when the training is finished, and another 25-cent increase comes six months later, according to TeleTech.
