RICHMOND TOWNSHIP -- A 12-year-old Mentor-on-the-Lake girl is dead following a traffic accident late Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Stanhope-Kellogsville and Footville-Richmond roads in Ashtabula County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The girl, 12, died and her two brothers, 6 and 10, were flown via MedEvac to St. Elizabeths Hospital in Youngstown with serious injuries, OSP reported.

The OSP says that the crash occured just after 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to the OSP report, the driver of a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire, Mark Stilwagon, 23, of Dorset, was eastbound on Footville-Richmond when a 1998 Chevy Blazer, driven by Rebecca A. Kittelson, 35, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, was southbound on Stanhope-Kellogsville,

The preliminary investigation's report states that Kittelson pulled out into the path of Stilwagon's Sunfire and was struck broadside.

When the Sunfire struck the Blazer, it forced it into an Amish buggy, driven by Christ E. Zook, 22, of Andover. Zook's buggy was stopped, heading northbound Stanhope-Kelloggsville.

Stilwagon had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Josephs Clinic in Andover. Zook was uninjured.

Kittelson and a 16-year-old daughter also in the car were not hurt.

The OSP continues the investigation.
