CANTON -- The Canton Police Department has made arrests in the shooting death of a 2-year-old girl who was gunned down inside a home on 14th Street NE.
Harmoney Sankey was shot just before 10 p.m. Thursday night and died.
The Stark County Coroner's office tells Channel 3 News that the cause of Sankey's death was a single gunshot wound to the torso.
Police say her grandfather, Daniel Sankey Jr., 44, was also pistol-whipped and shot. The rescue squad took him to Aultman Hospital where he was treated and released.
Canton police say they have arrested two men in connection with the fatal shooting.
They tell Channel 3 News that William Ferguson, 20, turned himself in to Elyria police early Saturday morning. He is currently being held in the Stark County Jail on charges of complicity for aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.
Police also say that Maki Ragland, 20, was also arrested Satruday morning. He is being charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.
"The motive behind (home invasion) appears at this time to obviously be robbery," Capt. Lawver said. "But as for specifics, it's still under investigation."
Capt. Lawver said Friday afternoon that police do not have any specific information indicating that the toddler was intentionally shot.
