CLEVELAND -- More than half a dozen fire trucks responded to the Great Lakes Brewing Company Sunday afternoon, after reports of a fire behind the building.

Authorities on the scene told Channel 3 News that the fire started in the back of the building in the alley.

Although the fire remains under investigation, first indications are that the fire was electrical in nature.

GLBC is reporting that, due to the "alley" fire between CLBC's Brewpub and the Fries & Scheule Bldg, the Brewpub is closed until Wednesday (Nov. 11) or Thursday (Nov. 12).

The GLBC also said that its phone lines are currently inoperable and to please check its website for updates.

GLBC says Monday night's Science Cafe is canceled and to call Darin at (216) 368-5268 for rescheduling details.

In addition, Tuesday's Brewmaster's dinner is being rescheduled and anyone who had RSVPed will be notified.

As of Monday afternoon, the Cleveland Fire Department did not have an update on the investigation or the cause of the fire. No one was injured and the extent and cost of the damage are not yet known.

It appears that most of the damage was in the alley and to that area of the GLBC building's exterior.
