
AKRON -- A suspect is now is custody after an alleged abduction of a woman, 25, from a home in Coventry Twp in Summit County.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol learned that a suspect, now identified as David T. Starner, 33, was driving a gold Pontiac Sunfire bearing Ohio license plate "EDK5836."
At 3:22 p.m. Tuesday, troopers from the OSP Canton Post spotted the vehicle on Interstate 77 near state Route 800 in Stark County.
After the suspect exited SR 800, the troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop with the vehicle. The suspect failed to comply and accelerated in an attempt to flee.
Troopers engaged into a motor vehicle pursuit which traveled south on SR 800, continuing through East Sparta, Magnolia, and into Carroll County.
Upon entering the Village of Delroy, the pursuit was ended. Troopers and deputies from the Carroll County Sheriffs Dept responded to the owner of the vehicle's house at 6026 Caddy Road, in Bowerston where they located the suspect vehicle and the victim.
Starner had run into a wooded area behind the house. Moments later, he came out of the woods voluntarily and surrendered himself.
The OSP said the alleged victim was identified as Emily A. Foss, age 25, of Akron.
Neither the suspect, the victim, any officer or bystander sustained any injuries as a result of the incident.
Starner will be held at the Stark County Jail for felony fleeing and eluding. The Summit County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation on the alleged abduction.
