Cleveland: Sheriff deputy pushed down stairs pursuing fugitive

CLEVELAND -- The Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department and Cleveland Police continue searching for the fugitive who pushed a deputy down a flight of stairs at the Justice Center Wednesday after learning he had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Clinton Smith was reporting to his probation officer for a prior conviction when he was told there was a new arrest warrant out for him on fraud charges.

He ran from the Cuyahoga County Probation Department, followed by two deputies.

He pushed one of the deputies down a flight of stairs. That deputy is being treated for his injuries.

Smith ran south on Ontario Street.
