BATON ROUGE, La. -- A formal push is under way to oust Louisiana?s governor for her response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
A St. Martinville resident has filed a recall petition against Governor Kathleen Blanco with Louisiana?s elections office.
The Republican who filed the petition says the Democratic governor performed poorly. Kat Landry says the state needs new leadership to recover from the back-to-back blows of the hurricanes. A recall election requires handwritten petition signatures from at least one-third of Louisiana?s registered voters in 180 days.
Blanco was unavailable for comment. She?s out of the country, studying flood-control measures in Holland.
