CLEVELAND -- There was a history making revolt today among faculty members at Case Western Reserve University.

Thursday afternoon, the majority of professors in the College of Arts and Sciences voted ?no-confidence? in university president, Dr. Edward Hundert.

One hundred thirty-one professors indicated they wanted a change in leadership. Only 44 wanted the school president to keep his job.

Afterwards, Mr. Hundert talked with us about the ?no-confidence? vote.

?We can actually get to a stronger place so long as we act in different ways and that includes me personally,? he said. ?It?s been a very humbling experience, but it?s also been an experience for great leadership growth for me.?

?It?s a difficult thing to do and I felt prepared to do it,? said Lawrence Krauss, Ph.D. ?But some people think you are embarrassing the university by doing it. It is traumatic and I realize that when I did it that just having this discussion would be traumatic and embarrassing.?

The Arts and Sciences faculty also indicated they had no confidence in the university?s number two man, John Anderson.

However, neither man will lose his job unless the board of trustees agrees with this faculty group, which represents only 9 percent of the teaching staff at the university.
