WASHINGTON (AP) -- Court papers show Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff says President Bush authorized the leak of sensitive intelligence on Iraq.
The filings are in the case of Lewis Libby, who is charged in the leak of a CIA agent's identity.
Before his indictment, Libby testified to a grand jury that Cheney told him to pass on information and that Bush authorized the leak.
There is no indication in the filing that either Bush or Cheney authorized Libby to disclose Valerie Plame's identity. But the documents indicate Bush and Cheney set up Libby as a secret source to reporters about prewar intelligence on Iraq.
The papers from Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald say Libby had the conversation in which the C-I-A agent's name was leaked after Cheney told him Bush gave the go-ahead "to disclose certain information" from an intelligence report.
