CLEVELAND (AP) -- Technicians are on strike against Cleveland's electric power company.
At 7 a.m., picket lines went up at six locations across the city, including the downtown headquarters of Cleveland Public Power and outside City Hall.
Officials with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers say last night's vote to walk out was unanimous.
The union has operated without a contract since 2004.
It represents 180 workers, including linemen, workers who care for traffic lights and a few people who are responsible for telecommunications.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Public Power said the company would use supervisors to handle the work load.
The nonprofit utility serves Cleveland residents and businesses.
