AKRON -- A strange single car accident on Akron's east side left a truck flipped and the driver trapped Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 10 a.m. on Newton Street on Akron's east side, just across the street from Seiberling Elementary.

The truck sped down Newton and went left of center, knocking over two telephone poles and two street signs before flipping.

The driver was trapped for 25 minutes as firefighters cut him out of the truck. He was nude except for a trench coat.

He was taken to Akron City Hospital.

Newton street is closed between Briton Road and Litchfield.
