MIAMI (AP) - A passenger plane traveling from Kingston, Jamaica, to Cleveland, Ohio, was diverted to Miami after reports of a fire that turned out to be a false alarm.
The Miami Herald reports that Swift Air Flight 2933 landed at the Miami International Airport on Friday afternoon.
Airport spokesman Marc Henderson says the airport received a message from the Boeing 737 aircraft saying it needed to make an emergency landing after a report of fire or smoke in its cargo area.
The plane landed safely, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded. Rescue officials determined there was no fire on board.
No injuries were reported to the plane's 155 occupants. It wasn't immediately clear what triggered the false fire alarm.
