It may sound like a joke, but comedian Roseanne Barr is running for president and she has won the nomination of the Peace and Freedom party.
"I am the only serious comedian in this campaign," Roseanne said with laughter. "Most of the others are clowns. Clowns who lie to the American people to trick them out of their social security and their retirement benefits in 150 years of sacrifice for progress."
Her running mate is Cindy Sheehan, who is best known for protesting outside President George W. Bush's Texas ranch after he son was killed in Iraq.
The Peace and Freedom party doesn't have ballot access in many states.
The party hopes the comedian's nomination will boost its party registration.
Barr had previously sought the nomination of the Green party.
