LAKE COUNTY -- GOP leaders meet Friday night to select a candidate to replace U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette for Ohio's 14th Congressional District, Lake County Republican Party Chairman Dale Fellows tells WKYC's Tom Beres.
A total of 14 people are eligible to vote -- the seven Republican county chairmen and each county's county central committee secretaries in the 14th District.
The Republican Party has until 4 p.m. Aug. 13 to nominate a new candidate.
The 14th Congressional District consists of Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula and parts of Cuyahoga, Portage, Summit and Trumbull counties.
The vote will take place during a meeting at 2 p.m. Friday at the Willoughby Hills Community Center.
LaTourette's withdrawal as a candidate for reelection is effective as of Wednesday.
The Republican candidate will face Democrat Dale Blanchard, of Solon, Elaine R. Mastromatteo, a Green Party candidate, and David Macko, the Libertarian candidate.
