COLUMBUS -- Gov. Ted Strickland has made appointments to both the Cleveland State University board of trustees and the University of Akron board of trustees.
Strickland has appointed Tom Adler, of Shaker Heights, to the CSU board, replacing Sam Miller, who left the board in April.
Adler, 68, currently serves in a pro-bono advisory position for PSF Management Company. He previously served as a co-founder and counsel for Cleveland Real Estate Partners and as the president of Grubb & Ellis Investment Services Group.
Adler also currently serves as the chairman of the Playhouse Square Foundation and previously served as the chairman of the Downtown Cleveland Partnership.
He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1962.
Strickland appointed Warren Woolford, of Akron, to the UA board.
Woolford served as the director of planning and urban development for the City of Akron for 20 years before retiring in 2008.
He currently serves as a board member for the University Park Alliance. He received a bachelor's degree from Coppin State University and a master's degree from the University of Akron.
The boards of trustees set the tuition and fees of the universities, hires and fixes the compensation of the schools' employees, and does all that is necessary to ensure the successful operations of the universities.
