Brunswick: Vigils held for car crash victims

BRUNSWICK -- Prayer vigils were held Monday for the  the teenage victims of a weekend car crash.

Community members came together at prayer services at St. Ambrose and Brunswick Reformed Church.

Funeral services are set for later this week for the teens. 

The students died after their car went airborne after crossing railroad tracks on Boston Road in Columbia Township early Sunday morning. The driver lost control after the car landed and the vehicle hit a tree before ending up on its roof.

A fifth student in the car remains hospitalized.

Two of the victims, the car's driver Jeffrey Chaya and Kevin Fox were due to graduate from Brunswick later Sunday.

Two other passengers Blake Bartchak, 17, and Lexi Poerner, 16, of Brunswick also died of their injuries.

Memorial Funds have been established at First Merit Bank. Donations will be accepted at any branch.
