Uniontown: Couple sought in thefts, officer dragging

LAKE TOWNSHIP -- Police are searching for a man and woman wanted in connection with a series of store thefts, including one incident that injured a police officer.

Uniontown, Lake Township police say over the past few weeks the pair have allegedly committed a number of thefts from drug stores and food chains as well as other forgery type thefts.

On June 24, the two were spotted at a store in Hartville by an off-duty officer. When stopped outside, the pair fled in a silver Chrysler dragging the officer through the parking lot in the process. The officer was treated and released for his injuries.

The silver car has a red and white sticker on each side of the rear license plate showing the silhouette of a winged woman. The car has a dealer tag 9-9187.

Police identify the pair as Clayton James, 23, of Akron and Amanda K. Haren aka Amanda Scaif, 23, also of Akron. They are wanted by Uniontown, Lake Township on charges of robbery, attempted aggravated assault of an officer, resisting arrest and theft. The two are also wanted on additional felony warrants out of Hudson.

Anyone spotting the pair should contact police immediately.
