AKRON -- U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) said the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the Akron-Canton Regional Airport a total of $3,483,450 to rehabilitate its pavement and purchase new equipment.
The airport will use the money to rehabilitate the airport's taxiway and apron. The funding will also be used to purchase a high-speed-sweeper that will remove snow, keeping the airport serviceable during snow periods and aiding in the efficiency and safety of operations.
"The Akron-Canton Regional Airport provides important travel services to business travelers and visitors all across Northeast Ohio," Brown said.
"This funding will improve the safety and efficiency of the airport so it can remain a reliable option for air travelers in the region."
