JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Two different problems throughout the early morning hours Wednesday cut off power to thousands in Stark County.
The first outage happened right after 1 a.m. in Jackson Township, where an equipment failure at a substation knocked out power to 4,915 homes and businesses in three cities.
Power was back on by about 2:30 a.m.
Later, a blown transformer at a completely different substation in Alliance caused another power failure affecting 2,681 FirstEnergy customers in the area.
Power should be restored to Alliance and surrounding areas by 7 a.m., said a spokesman for FirstEnergy.
