AKRON -- A gunman entered Akron General Hospital and shot his wife, a patient at the hospital, Saturday evening.
John Wise, of Massillon, entered the intensive care unit around 8:45 p.m. and shot his wife, Barbara Wise.
Security personnel immediately caught the man and he was arrested by Akron Police.
The hospital was locked down as a security precaution but has since returned to normal operation.
According to hospital spokesman Jim Gosky, the shooting appears to be a domestic incident.
Police say Barbara wise was pronounced brain dead Sunday morning around 10:20 a.m. They are now ruling the case a homicide.
John is being held for attempted murder although charges may change. He is expected to be on arraigned on Monday.
