MEDINA -- Another top award has been served up to Romeo's Pizza as one of their pies was named the "Best of the Midwest."

The top prize, which Romeo's won in the traditional category at the 2013 Pizza Pizzazz, was given to their meat-stacked meal, known as the Butcher Shop pizza.

The Butcher Shop features Romeo's traditional sweet sauce, 100 percent Wisconsin cheese, pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon and crumbled meatballs.

More than 60 pizza makers from 17 states squared off in the annual contest, which was held in Columbus in conjunction with the North America Pizza and Ice Cream Show.

A panel of 40 judges evaluated each pizza for taste, presentation, crust quality and marketability.

Craig Jenkins, a three-store franchise partner of Romeo's, cooked the award-winning pizza.

This marks the third time in 10 years that a pie from Romeo's Pizza has been crowned "Best of the Midwest."

Romeo's Pizza finished fourth in the gourmet category with their Great Ranch & Potato Pizza, which had previously won the title as "Best Gourmet Pizza in America."

To date, Romeo's Pizza has won more than 20 different awards.

Romeo's, which got its start in Medina, now has 31 locations throughout Ohio.
