As you look in your fridge before your meal makes its way to the table, experts have a word of caution about condiments.
Many families are keeping things like ketchup and mustard much longer than they should.
According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, ketchup can keep for about six months after it's open, while mustard can last for a year.
As for mayonnaise and salad dressing, they're no good after two months being opened and should be tossed out of the fridge and into the trash.
What about pickles? They're good refrigerated for just two weeks after the seal is popped.
